LRC Charter
The Learning Resources Centre is here to help, advise and provide the resources you need to support your studies.
Our staff will treat you with courtesy and respect. We will work with you to create an appropriate environment for all who wish to use the library's facilities in the correct spirit.
Opening Hours
- Monday – Friday: 8.15 am – 5.00 pm
- Late opening on Tuesdays and Thursdays until 7.00 pm
- We close every day during morning break between 10.45 – 11.05,
apart from Mondays when we close 10.45 – 11.50 (tutorial period)
Resources
- An extensive range of books to support your studies and your wider reading.
- A large selection of daily newspapers and journals, for your course work and general interest.
- Reference works, eg. encyclopedias, dictionaries, atlases, statistics.
- A wide range of textbooks in the reference section, recommended by teaching staff.
- Access to the college computer network.
- Access to the Internet and MS Office programs.
- Access to on-line resources and CD-ROMs to support your studies.
- DVDs and videos, both course related and for your enjoyment.
- Use of the DVD and video and players in the library.
- Photocopying facilities.
Services
- Induction sessions for all new students at the start of the college year
- Subject-based information skills sessions
- Reservations for items on loan
- Requests for resources not in stock (to be either bought for stock, if appropriate, or obtained from other libraries)
- Guidance in the use of online resources, SFX Moodle and the Internet
- Guidance in the use of the library computer catalogue
- Assistance with IT enquiries, including MS Office programs
We Expect You to
- Abide by the LRC code of conduct.
- Treat staff with courtesy and respect.
- Present ID cards to staff when you come into the LRC.
- Help us to maintain an atmosphere conducive to study by observing our rule of silence at all times.
