Use of the IT Area
Facilities
- 56 computers and 20 laptops, all with access to the Internet and 'Fantastic Online Resources'.
- MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Media Player and Publisher on all computers.
- ‘Visual Basic’ and 'Sage' are also available on several computers.
- 2 scanners.
- 3 laser printers and 2 colour printers.
- 4 'Quick Access' machines for printing work, checking emails (10 minute limit).
Guidance for students
- Students must hand in their ID card at the IT Desk.
- Only one student per computer.
- Students must work in silence.
- No eating or drinking, except bottled water.
The following are forbidden:
- Use of chatlines, music sites, games.
- Installing or storing programs of any type.
- Using the network for buying or selling goods.
- Accessing unsuitable websites.
Booking a computer
- You can book up to 2 hours at a time, maximum 3 hours per day. If you need more time, please ask LRC staff.
- A booked computer must be claimed within the first 10 minutes of a session or it will be given to another student.
